Senior Executive Award
E. LLOYD SOBEL
Charmer Industries

E. Lloyd Sobel was named Executive Vice President, Regal House, Division of Charmer Industries in August 1994.

Prior to E. Lloyd Sobel joining Charmer Industries, he was employed at Joseph E. Seagram and Sons for 16 years. Mr. Sobel's career began as a trade research analyst. He proceeded to hold ever increasing jobs that included marketing sales and administration. His most recent position was Vice President Eastern Division Manager.

Mr. Sobel and his wife Maralyn have 3 children - Philip 10, andrew 8, and Stefanie 22 months.


Dr. Jorge L. Sintes
Colgate-Palmolive Co.

Dr. Jorge L. Sintes earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nutritional Bio chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In the past, Dr. Sintes has worked with community organizations such as, La Leche League, the Leukemia Foundation and the Hemophilia Society for Children. Jorge was influential in the development of the Hispanic Dental Association, a Colgate initiative that began in 1989. Dr. Sintes was the person responsible for the development of the Hispanic Action Network at Colgate. Together with Dr. Marsha Butler, Dr. Sintes works in the implementation of the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Program. Jorge is the Technology liaison for Oral Care for Colgate in Latin America where he has provided scientific lectures and commercial presentations. Dr. Sintes has been at Colgate's Technology Center since 1990. His current responsibility is the Worldwide Clinical Cardiology program.


Gilbert J. Amengual
General Electric Co.

Gil was born and raised in New York City. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a 8 in Electrical Engineering in 1973. After 3-1!2 years with General Motors in a Manufacturing Engineering role, Oil joined GE's Machinery Apparatus Operation, in Schenectady. While working at GE, Gil obtained his Professional Engineering License and took advantage of participating in GE's "Advanced Course in Engineering Program" to complete his Master's of Engineering degree at Rensselaer. Gil's current role is Manager of Project Engineering. The responsibility of Gil's team is to support all sales and order execution efforts with Application and Requisition Engineering for New Units and Uprates on the three Power Generation product lines LC;as Turbine, Steam Turbines and Generators). Gil and his German born wife, Helga, will be married 22 years this summer and have a 9 year old daughter named Ariel.


Luvina Bello
Miller Brewing Co.

Ms. Belle is a graduate from Mount St. Vincent College. She has been a Sales Specialist for 3 1/2 years, assisting her company achieve top sales accounts. Her responsibilities also include sales and pro motions for Miller's Bronx Region - Independent Supermarkets. Ms. Belle demonstrates perseverance and is very committed in servicing all her clients. She is responsible for promotional displays of new products. She is identified by her colleagues to be cooperative and innovative. Ms. Belle is married and mother of two children, Steven and Brandon.


Juan Rodriguez
NYNEX

Juan Rodriguez is the Director of Operations in Manhattan for NYNEX. Juan's Business achievements include maintaining excellent switch service levels in Southern Manhattan which is one of the busiest regions in telephone activity in the world and is viewed as a manager who takes pride in coaching and developing his people. His currently a Winnings Ways facilitator and has also presented for the Diversity Consortium Survival Skills workshop at NYNEX. Juan holds Master of Science Degree from Polytechnic University and Bachelor Degree in Science in Business Administration Management.


Raquel Cruz
NYNEX

Throughout her 14 years at NYNEX, Raquel Cruz has received numerous awards and commendations for her outstanding performance. Beginning with no experience, Raquel entered the Ac count Executive program. Through her determination and ability as a quick learner, she certified on the Citibank Account Team. Now, Raquel is seen as an expert in the fields of LAN and voice communication systems. Expanding her diverse background, Raquel was promoted to the State Market Area where she evaluates the impact of process re-engineering and diversity issues. Raquel's other involvements include membership in NYNEX Hispanic Support Organizations as well as the Association of NYNEX Women. Raquel holds a BA in Psychology and is currently working towards her Master of Science and Telecommunications Management at Polytechnic University. 


George M. Zorrilla
Pfizer

Mr. Zorrilla attended the University of Florida and graduated with a 8 in Business Administration in 1983. In 1984 he joined Pfizer Inc. and has held positions as Medical Service Representative, District Hospital Representative, Assistant to the Regional Manager, Southern Region. In 1989, he obtained his current position as District Manager, Miami District, Roerig Division, USPG for Pfizer. He has been the recipient of three awards as Vice President's Club, District Hospital Representative of the Year, and Regional District Manager of the Year Southern-Region. Mr. Zorrilla and his wife, Alison are married with 3 children: George, Melanee and Steven. ' "' Line Garcia was named Director, HBO en Espanola, for Home Box Office, in February 1995. He is responsible for garnering affiliate support for HBO's Spanish-language programming enhancement service, to help increase cable penetration in the Latino marketplace. He also develops and executes strategic marketing campaigns for HBO programs targeting ethnic audiences. Prior to his promotion, he served as Manager of Ethnic Marketing since 1993. Prior to joining HBO, Garcia was a Marketing Manager for TCI Cablevision of Puerto Rico. In 1988, Garcia began his career in cable television at Paragon cable in Manhattan. By 1991, he was managing the system's 15-person direct sales department. Garcia holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware. He, his wife Sybille and son Christian reside in New York.


Rev. Pedro P. Piron
United Methodist Church

Rev. Piron was born in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 16, Rev. Pedro P. Piron had a deep transforming experience of Grace. He decide to pursue his love for the Lord and attend The Union Theological Seminary in New York, where he graduated from. His first appointment was in 1954 and was ordain in the Mennonite Church in 1959 where he served 10 years. He became the first His panic Coordinator of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 1991 he was appointed as the first Hispanic Superintendent in the North East in the U.S. in the last 200 years of Methodism. His present district has 81 congregations and over 10,000 members. He has served the Lord and his people for 41 years. Rev. Piron and his wife Petra, have been married for 39 years, have 4 children and eight grandchildren. Rev. Piron's advise is, "to encourage people not to give up until they become what God has intended for them to be".


Joe Velez
Pathmark Stores, Inc.

Joe Velez joined Pathmark in 1974, as Night Crew Chief. One year later he was promoted to Night Store Manager, and then Grocery Manager. He was selected to attend the Assistant Store Manager training program in 1979. His hard work and dedication led to his promotion in 1986, to General Store Manager; a position which he currently holds in the Commack Store. Joe has a track record for improving the operation of the stores that he has been in as well as building a motivated and productive team. Joe Velez attended New York University and majored in Business.
