Carla Abonia is an agency owner for Allstate Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 company and one of the nation’s largest publicly held personal insurers. She has 12 years of experience with Allstate Insurance and a total of 14 years in the insurance industry. As an agent she represents Allstate and provides products and services to help protect families with their personal (auto, property, and life) insurance, commercial insurance, and retirement and investment products. She hires and manages a customer support workforce in all business aspects, and manages a book of business in over $1 million in premium. Furthermore, she is responsible for increasing Allstate’s market penetration by implementing new marketing strategies.  She uses innovative technology, social media, and various marketing techniques to improve yearly renewable percentages, and increase Allstate’s presence in the insurance industry. 

She started a specialized Allstate entrepreneurship program in October 2004 for insurance agents and successfully graduated from the program in April 2006. This afforded her the opportunity to begin her entrepreneurship journey which resulted in the opening of her own insurance establishment in Astoria, NY in October 2006. She has received honors and awards from Allstate Insurance for her performance as a top insurance agent in 2008 and received Honor Ring Status. She was awarded Chairman’s Conference in Sydney Australia in March 2008 and Regional Champion’s Conference in Atlantis, Bahamas in May 2008.

Prior to Allstate, she worked at Chubb Insurance for 2 years where she gained firsthand knowledge of the worker’s compensation industry. At Chubb Insurance she worked on large client accounts for the NY Mets, several popular Broadway shows, world famous AA+ celebrities and television actors.  Also, she worked with MasterCard Company as a financial outreach program instructor to provide analytical data to assist MasterCard in their marketing efforts to target the Latin community.

Carla enjoys teaching others and has used her profession to provide mentoring services to upcoming professionals. She instructs seminars at different colleges and has developed an Internship Program within her agency. She provides a hands on training experience in which students are able to enhance their skill set, gain work experience, and learn marketing, financials, business management and more. She partners with schools to inspire innovation and transform the public school system and is part of an organization called Pencil.   She is also part of the Miss Taxi organization in which she helps mentor and coach young women, helps them in all their events, and tv appearances.  

Carla believes in giving back to the community and has supported many youth events both in her professional and recreational time. She has been recognized in local newspapers, media outlets and by Astoria congresswoman Carolyn Maloney for her numerous awards and community involvement. She currently volunteers for the Good Counsel Home and provides classes for empowerment and positive thinking.  

Carla graduated Queens College in June of 2000, where she majored in Economics and minored in Business and Liberal Arts.  She is also a member of Cambridge’s “Who’s Who” and National Association of Women
